Gateway Retreat and Recreation Center

Gateway Retreat and Recreation Center

Gateway’s large campus will be put to great use as a retreat and recreation center, to generate income for operating expenses. The location of the campus is ideal—in the hills, under the clear blue skies—just far enough from Ulaanbaatar to get away from the congestion and smog, without having to drive several hours. \r\n

\r\nTourism to Mongolia is extremely expensive for foreigners. GRRC can offer a reasonable alternative to expensive tour packages. GRRC staff can design various tour packages including travel to the outer provinces with customized trips to the Gobi Desert, Hovsgol Lake, the Kazakh mountain areas, and many other beautiful sites. Complemented by an actual stay on the GIEC campus (where horseback-riding, archery, Mongolian cultural activities, and other programs will be offered), visitors to the beautiful country will create wonderful memories at affordable prices. GVS interns will help staff the GRRC while learning about the travel industry and what it takes to be success in the hospitality industry. The invaluable education and hands-on training will also assist them in finding gainful employment upon graduating from the program. Additionally, the revenue earned from resort will be used to offset operating expenses of the GIEC campus and supplement staff salaries.\r\n

\r\nThe GRRC facilities will also be used as a place for rest and renewal for the many Mission pastors and lay ministers who so desperately need a break but simply cannot afford a traditional vacation. Beautifully manicured botanical gardens will beckon many from the concrete jungle of the city, so they can enjoy leisurely walks or rigorous hikes in the hills. And of course, the GRRC grounds and the main campus chapel/auditorium can be used for Mission-wide campmeetings, evangelistic endeavors, and other such gatherings, which will provide significant savings since the Mission pays thousands of dollars to rent similar facilities.
