Facilities

With 56 hectares, there is more than sufficient space to build the multi-purpose GIEC campus. Monolithic Domes are ideally suited to the Mongolian climate and culture. Not only are these domes similarly shaped to traditional Mongolian ger homes which lend our campus a cultural authenticity, but they are super-insulated to ensure cost-efficient heating during the bitterly cold winter months, which often last from September to May. Monolithic Domes are typically easier to construct, less expensive, and much stronger & safer than other conventional buildings (please visit monolithic.org for specific construction and building details). The school will consist of a multi-dome complex to serve as a boarding academy (grades 6-12), vocational school, retreat, and agricultural center. All domes will be built Orion-style with 8-10 ft. stem walls, and some will have interconnecting walkways. Preliminary drawings have already been commissioned by an expert dome architect, and construction-ready blueprints are pending. Smaller Monolithic Domes will be constructed for faculty/staff housing as well as for individual ger¬-style accommodations at the GRRC. The GRRC will also have a large, central ger facility that will be used as a reception/meeting area, restaurant, and cultural center for the resort. One of the first short-term mission projects, currently in the works, is a tree-planting program to beautify the campus grounds. Mission staff are investigating which trees, plants, flowers, will grow best in this region and creating a layout for the most effective landscape.
